The Triund Trek is a perfect short Himalayan adventure near Dharamshala and McLeod Ganj, ideal for beginners and nature lovers. This 2-day trek covers about 18 km round trip and offers a mix of dense pine forests, panoramic views of the Dhauladhar mountain range, and a serene camping experience at the top. The trail is scenic and moderately steep, with plenty of rest points and small cafés along the way.

On Day 1, the trek begins from Dharamkot or Bhagsu, gradually ascending to the Triund ridge at 2,875 meters. Camp overnight at Triund with views of the snow-capped peaks and a spectacular sunset. On Day 2, enjoy a peaceful sunrise and descend back to McLeod Ganj after breakfast.

📍 Day 1: McLeod Ganj / Dharamkot → Triund Top

  • Start your trek from McLeod Ganj or Dharamkot (altitude ~2,000 m)
  • Trek distance: 8–9 km | Duration: 4–5 hours
  • Walk through dense forests of oak, deodar, and rhododendron
  • Enjoy panoramic views of Kangra Valley and Dhauladhar mountain range
  • Stop for refreshments at Magic View Café or Rest-A-While
  • Reach Triund Top (~2,850 m) by afternoon
