Where is Indrahar Pass?

Indrahar Pass forms the natural border between the Kangra and Chamba districts in Himachal Pradesh. The trek usually begins from McLeod Ganj, a peaceful suburb of Dharamshala and the home of the Dalai Lama. The trail passes through Triund, Ilaqa Got, and Lahesh Cave before finally reaching the Indrahar Pass.

The beauty of this trek lies in its diverse terrain: forests of oak and deodar, lush meadows, ancient glacial moraines, and rugged rocky paths—all offering unique experiences each day.

Your adventure begins with a scenic hike through pine and rhododendron forests. The well-laid trail gradually ascends as you pass local tea shops and panoramic viewpoints. By afternoon, you reach Triund – a scenic ridge with stunning views of the Dhauladhar peaks. Camp overnight under the stars.

Day 2: Triund to Ilaqa Got (3,300m)

After a warm breakfast, descend back via Triund to McLeod Ganj. The trek ends with a sense of achievement and lifelong memories.

Best Time to Do Indrahar Pass Trek

The best season to trek Indrahar Pass is from May to June and September to October. During summer, the trail is clear of snow and the weather is pleasant. Post-monsoon season brings fresh greenery and cleaner skies. July and August are monsoon months and not ideal due to slippery trails and landslides.
