CHOOSE THE WALK BEFORE THE VIEW

Find a trek that fits
your kind of adventure.

The right route starts with your time,
fitness and experience. Duration is a useful
guide, but terrain matters just as much.

01 / A SHORT ESCAPE

Two or three days

Consider an overnight Triund Trek, forest camping near Dharamkot, or a Kareri Lake itinerary when you want a mountain break without a longer expedition. Check walking times and daily climbs before deciding.

02 / FURTHER INTO THE RANGE

Four to six days

Look at the mountain-pass and sacred-lake itineraries if you want more time away from town. Routes such as Indrahar Pass, Minkiani Pass and Lam Dal involve terrain that calls for preparation and a suitable pace.

03 / TIME TO KEEP WALKING

Seven days or more

Choose a longer circuit or expedition when you can allow time for successive walking days, remote camps and changing conditions. Discuss your experience with the team before choosing a high-altitude itinerary.

LOCAL TRAILS. A CLEARER PLAN.

Trekking in Dharamshala,
with room to explore.

Bhagsunag and McLeod Ganj are starting points for exploring the Dhauladhar on foot. The routes lead from wooded slopes and village paths towards open ridges, mountain lakes and higher passes.

Dharamsala Treks, part of Manu Adventures India, helps you choose a guided itinerary around your experience and available time. Start with the trek details, then ask about your dates, meeting point and arrangements before booking.

When to plan your trek

Spring and early summer, and the post-monsoon autumn period, are useful starting points for planning. Snow, rain and conditions higher up can change access. Ask for advice on the specific route and season rather than assuming every trek runs throughout the year.

Know what the package covers

Guiding, meals, camping equipment, transport and permits vary between itineraries. Read the inclusions and exclusions, confirm your final quote and ask about any arrangements you need to add.

Prepare for several days outside

Discuss daily walking hours and ascent with the team. Request a route-specific packing list, bring suitable footwear and layers, and leave enough time around your arrival and onward travel.

Ask a local guide →
Which multi-day trek near Dharamshala should I choose?

Start with the number of days you have and your walking experience. Compare the daily distance, ascent, terrain and sleeping arrangements in each itinerary. A shorter trek may still involve a steep climb, while a longer trip may include gentler walking days.

Are there overnight treks for beginners?

Active beginners can consider Triund or a suitable forest-camping itinerary after discussing the route with a guide. Kareri Lake is another option when you are ready for more time on the trail. Choose according to your fitness and the conditions for your dates.

How are Kareri Lake and Indrahar Pass different?

Kareri Lake is an alpine-lake itinerary with forest and stream-side walking. Indrahar Pass continues into higher, rocky terrain above the Triund route and is a more demanding choice. Read the full itineraries and discuss preparation before booking.

How do I request a trek quote?

Contact us with your preferred trek, dates and group size for a personalised quote. Inclusions differ, and your final quote may depend on dates, group size, transport and other arrangements. Confirm the itinerary, inclusions and exclusions before paying.

Can solo travellers or families enquire?

Yes. Share the number of travellers, ages where relevant, experience and preferred dates. The team can discuss a suitable route and confirm private arrangements or any available group departure.

Can I book a day hike instead of an overnight trek?

Yes. The separate Day Hikes category lists walks around Dharamkot, Naddi, McLeod Ganj and other nearby trails. Use it when you prefer to return to your accommodation the same day.

What happens if weather or trail conditions change?

Ask about the operator’s route-change and cancellation arrangements before booking. The guide will confirm current access and advise on the itinerary. Keep travel plans flexible where possible and read the site’s refunds and cancellation policy.
