On the second day, you ascend to the pristine Kareri Lake, a glacial marvel nestled at nearly 3,000 meters. The highlight of the trek comes on Day 3, as you make an early push to conquer the Minkiani Pass at an altitude of approximately 4,300 meters — offering jaw-dropping views of the Manimahesh range and surrounding snow-capped peaks. After soaking in the high-altitude beauty, you descend back to the lake and then continue the journey down to Kareri Village. Day 01
Dharamshala / McLeod Ganj to Kareri Village – Trek to Reyoti (2,800m)
Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Dharamshala to Kareri Village (approx. 2 hours). After a brief orientation and packing session, the trek begins through pine forests and along the Nyund stream. The trail gradually ascends to Reyoti, a serene riverside meadow surrounded by dense forests.

Day 02

Reyoti Camp to Kareri Lake (2,934m)
Today’s trail leads through oak, pine, and rhododendron forests, gradually ascending to the glacial waters of Kareri Lake. Situated at the base of Minkiani Pass, the lake offers crystal-clear views and a spiritual atmosphere with a small Shiva temple on its banks.

Day 03
Kareri Lake to Minkiani Pass (4,300m) and back to Kareri Lake
Today is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek. Start early for the steep ascent to Minkiani Pass, which offers panoramic views of the Dhauladhar range, Kangra Valley, and glimpses of the Manimahesh Kailash peak on clear days. After spending time at the pass, return to Kareri Lake by evening.

Day 04
Kareri Lake to Kareri Village – Drive to McLeod Ganj / Dharamshala

Day 05
Buffer Day / Rest Day (Optional)
You can use this day as a buffer for weather delays or simply relax and explore McLeod Ganj — visit the Dalai Lama Temple, local cafes, or shop for Tibetan souvenirs.

The ideal time for the Minkiani Pass Trek is from May to October, when the trail is open and weather conditions are favorable. Snow may still be present in early May or late October.
This trek is considered moderate to difficult, especially due to the steep climb on Day 3 to Minkiani Pass (4,250m). It is suitable for trekkers with prior high-altitude trekking experience and good fitness.
Accommodation is in alpine tents on sharing basis at scenic campsites like Reyoti and Kareri Lake. Sleeping bags and mats are provided.
